To directors and co-stars, he isn't just acting—he's a monstrous, once-in-a-generation genius method actor.

I Was Mistaken as a Monstrous Genius Actor is a hilarious, addictive Korean showbiz novel built entirely on glorious misunderstandings and top-tier method acting comedy.

Original Description

I, Kang Woojin, was quitting my design work and became a jobless person. The next day, my friend took me to auditions and I was forced to perform.

As i was given a script, the void space appeared in my mind and forced me to relive the character.

I got stabbed. Became a serial killer. Became an Exorcist.

As I become an actor, the misunderstandings keeps growing day by day.

What is in this novel?

MC gets a cheat. No romance up to chapter 93 because mc is dence. Misunderstanding trope.

My Review

Chapter 9, After reading the same fighting power-ups, this was something new and very exciting.

Chapter 55, The thrill faded after some chapters, and now it's just a misunderstanding trope. There is not much conflict or jealousy, and the chapters are too long.

Chapter 65, In my opinion, the MC does not use his powers correctly. I am dropping it.

Chapter 93, The initial excitement is gone also the MC does not use his cheat properly still now in my opinion.

FAQ

What is the MC's cheat exactly?

When he gets a script, a void space opens in his head and he literally lives as that character — feels the pain, the emotions, everything. He's not acting. He's actually going through it. That's why everyone around him thinks he's a once-in-a-lifetime genius.

Is there romance?

Yes, but very late. MC is dense so don't expect anything early. There's a love interest but the novel doesn't focus on it much. The author even got criticized for not developing the female lead enough.

Does the misunderstanding trope get old?

Depends on you. Some people love it all the way through. For me it got repetitive around chapter 55. If you're not into the "everyone thinks he's a monster genius but he has no idea" joke over and over, it will wear thin.

Is it completed?

Yes. 481 chapters, fully completed as of 2023. Has a manhwa adaptation too if you prefer reading it that way.

Is the ending good?

Not really, from what others say. Most readers agree the ending feels rushed and anticlimactic. The middle is where the fun is.
